If you didn’t know, San Francisco is well known for it’s brunch. It’s almost a religion for us San Francisco folks. I’ve had my fair share of brunches (hungover and not) and here are some of my favorites in the city.

Here are my top 5 brunch spots in San Francisco!

Brenda’s French Soul Food

What to order: Beignets and grits (either with shrimp or pork belly)

Reservations: Yes!

Outdoor dining: No

Tips: It is in a dicier part of the city, so be prepared for that. The food is well worth it and I promise will revive you after a night out. Food tastes just as great to-go if you need it delivered to you. They also have a location in Oakland!

El Techo

What to order: Pitcher of margarita and the chicharrones de carne

Reservations: Yes!

Outdoor dining: Yes!

Tips: Admittedly I mostly come here for the vibes and a great view of the city. El Techo is a rooftop in the Mission and on a clear sunny day, you can see the whole city. Just know that if the weather does get nice, there will be a line. So plan ahead and make a reservation for your crew!

Kitchen Story

What to order: Mascarpone deep fried french toast and Millionaire’s bacon

Reservations: No.

Outdoor dining: Yes!

Tips: This is a very busy and trendy spot on the weekends, so either arrive early before the brunch rush (anytime before 10:30am… ish) or arrive after the rush (anytime after 2pm). This is a great spot to take a visitor from out of town!

The Front Porch

What to order: Chicken and waffles

Reservations: Yes!

Outdoor dining: Yes!

Tips: This is one of my favorite neighborhood spots. Located in between Mission and Bernal, this is a quiet spot to take your friends, fam, or date. They were also recently featured on Food Network, how cool!

Wooden Spoon

What to order: Swedish society pancakes

Reservations: No.

Outdoor dining: No.

Tips: You’ll know you’ve arrived when you walk down Market Street and see a mob of people randomly on the street. Yes, it gets busy. So again, either arrive before the rush or after the rush. If you have to put your name down, go ahead and walk down the street to grab coffee from Verve or Thorough Bread Pastry.
